About Little Portugal
Little Portugal is one of Toronto's most exciting neighbourhoods for dining, nightlife, and cultural energy. Centred along Dundas Street West between Bathurst and Dufferin, the area was historically the heart of Toronto's Portuguese community, and that heritage remains visible in traditional bakeries, churrasqueira grillhouses, and the annual Portugal Day celebrations. But in recent years, the neighbourhood has layered on a new identity as one of the city's premier destinations for cocktail bars, chef-driven restaurants, and creative nightlife. The Ossington strip, which runs through the eastern edge of the neighbourhood, is lined with some of Toronto's most acclaimed bars and eateries, drawing crowds every weekend. Residential streets remain a charming patchwork of Victorian row houses and narrow-lot semis, many lovingly renovated. Trinity Bellwoods Park sits just to the south, providing the neighbourhood's beloved green gathering space.
