A Quiet Residential Pocket Near the Creek
Maple Leaf is a small, unassuming residential neighbourhood in the northwest part of the former City of York, nestled between the more well-known areas of the Junction to the south and Weston to the north. The neighbourhood takes its name from Maple Leaf Drive and the surrounding streets of modest post-war homes, many of which have been updated by a new generation of owners who appreciate the area's proximity to transit and relative affordability. Black Creek runs along the neighbourhood's western edge, and the Black Creek Trail provides a green corridor for walking and cycling that connects south to Eglinton and north toward the Humber River. Local shopping is found along Eglinton Avenue West and Weston Road, where a mix of West Indian, East African, and Latin American businesses reflect the area's diversity. Maple Leaf is not a neighbourhood that seeks attention, but for residents who value quiet streets, decent parks, and good value, it is a solid, grounded part of the city.
