Fenside-Parkwoods is a residential neighbourhood in the Don Mills area of North York, nestled between York Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue, east of the Don Valley Parkway. The area was developed as part of the Don Mills planned community in the 1950s and 1960s — one of Canada's first master-planned suburbs — and its layout reflects the progressive planning ideals of the era: curving streets, separated pedestrian pathways, generous green spaces, and a deliberate integration of nature into the residential fabric. The housing stock ranges from post-war bungalows and split-levels on the quieter residential crescents to clusters of high-rise apartment towers along the arterial roads. Parkwoods Park, the neighbourhood's central green space, provides sports fields, a community centre, and a playground that serve as gathering points for a diverse community. The Don Valley ravine system forms a natural boundary to the west, offering residents easy access to one of Toronto's great trail networks. Fenside-Parkwoods has a reputation for being well-kept and family-friendly, with a demographic that has diversified considerably from its original Anglo-Canadian suburban roots. The Ontario Science Centre, located at the neighbourhood's southern edge, has been a beloved Toronto landmark since 1969.
